Car Fire Attack

Grand Forks Fire Department will discuss and demonstrate effective and safe techniques for car fire attack.  Discussion will include features and components of newer cars and how they affect fire attack efforts, and what to expect in older makes/models of vehicles.  Information will also be presented on: Scene size-up, initial crew safety factors, appropriate use of PPE, scene communications, apparatus placement, how much hose is the “right” amount of hose, attack line options, potential hazards and immediate concerns.  Students will participate in multiple fire attack scenarios including, but not limited to: Engine compartment fires, Passenger compartment fires, and “Running” fuel fires. STUDENTS MUST BE CLEAN SHAVEN FOR THIS CLASS.  Full turn-out gear & SCBA’s required for this class.  This is a 4-hour class and will follow the training standards of NFPA 1403. Students must be 18 years or older.
